Ristorane Vegano Biologico "La Lanterna"

What's it like:

Healthy food that also tastes amazing is what you will get when you book a table at La Lanterna. One of the few all-vegan options in Verona is a short walk from the city centre and offers a nice view of the Adige River. The restaurant is dedicated to serving luxurious vegan dishes that reflect not only a healthy lifestyle but emphasize Italian flavors and great service too.

Our recommendation:

This cozy vegan restaurant serves incredibly delicious meals, appetizers, first and second dishes, and lovely desserts. First meals are a variety of pasta like carbonara, bowties with zucchini and sunflower seeds, and a giant green ravioli stuffed with seasonal veggies. Second meals are more complex and just as delicious. If you prefer something a little more simple, you can get vegan sushi or a pizza with their own special vegan mozzarella cheese. Make sure you don't eat too much as you will not want to miss out on their fabulous cakes from the bakery.

Location:

Piazzetta Portichetti, 6, Verona Italy

Dulcamara Vegan Bio Bistrot

What's it like:

This vegan bistro is actually a vegan and vegetarian restaurant that uses local fresh organic produce. The vegan options at this bio bar and restaurant are very healthy and taste amazing. Mainly a breakfast and lunch restaurant, they are open later on Fridays and Saturdays for dinner service.

Our recommendation:

Looking at the lunch menu, you can't go wrong with their lasagna, salads, pizza, or burgers combined with one of the fresh smoothies or their cappuccino made with almond milk. This is a great place for a sweet snack or pastry, vegan cakes, and cupcakes. Tiramisu and croissants are just a couple of the tempting treats you will have a hard time resisting. It is a small restaurant and fills up fast, so make sure you get there earlier to avoid the lunch rush.

Location:

Via Berni, 7 Verona Italy

Ziga Bistro

What's it like:

One of the best vegetarian restaurants in Verona, the bohemian-style bistro is fashioned after the Parisian bars of the late 1800s. The eclectic restaurant offers a meeting spot for the artsy crowd and serves up excellent food. The owner Marcella Bianchi, believes all living things are connected and are defined by nature through harmony and beauty.

Our recommendation:

Your dining experience includes vintage furniture surrounded by art-covered walls and antique items from Marcella's late grandmother. During the week, you will find the offer of late morning breakfast and dinner service that starts at 6 pm and runs until late in the evening. On the weekend, the restaurant is open from 9 am until midnight and serves a brunch that includes ultra-vitamin bowls and homemade cakes.

The menu consists of tasty dishes like crepes primavera with spinach and stracciatella cheese, fleur de sel de Bretagne and edible flowers, and some exquisite burgers and pizza. But the signature dish of the restaurant is the Sfincione, natural leavening Tumminia flour filled with cheese and vegetables, a traditional Sicilian meal. Ziga provides a great atmosphere and vegan food that you won't be able to stop talking about.

Location:

Via IV Novembre, 1B Verona Italy

Terracotta - Gastronomia Vegetariana

What's it like:

Run by one of the friendliest couples, Terracotta is an Italian vegetarian restaurant and bakery that also provides a good range of vegan choices. Neither of the young couple running the restaurant comes from a culinary background. But that hasn't stopped them from putting out some of the most delicious vegetarian food in the city.

Our recommendation:

They have only been open for a couple of years and have already made an impression in the vegetarian food scene. We suggest trying meals like cold black rice with zucchini and carrots, Focaccia sandwiches, homemade soups, pastries, and the best pizza. For dessert, you can sample one of their pies or cakes, but it is highly recommended to go for the very tasty vegan chocolate salami.

Location:

Via Gaetano Trezza, 32 Verona Italy

Zenkmzero

What's it like:

This little restaurant has a menu that changes daily as they use fresh seasonal sustainable products. Healthy vegetarian meals that taste amazing are what drive customers to find the small bistro. Vegetarian burgers, salads, salmon wraps, and a very scrumptious parmigiana di melazane are a few highlights of the menu. Oddly enough, one item you won't find, unlike in other Italian restaurants, is pizza.

Our recommendation:

There is a small outdoor seating area to enjoy the sunshine and do some people-watching. The restaurant is small, but you can grab some takeaway and enjoy your meal by the Adige River in Parco Cesare Lombroso, which is not too far away. Zenkmzero will give you very good quality food at a reasonable price in a pleasant atmosphere.

Location:

Via Cesiolo, 14 Verona Italy

Flora

What's it like:

Most vegan and vegetarian restaurants are for those who are making a choice to eat and live a more healthy lifestyle, Flora is a restaurant for those that don't have a choice. At Flora, they believe food is meant to be enjoyed as well as nourishing, even for those who have specific dietary requirements. The restaurant is dedicated to a menu that is 100% lactose and gluten-free, vegan food.

Our recommendation:

That being said, it doesn't mean they serve boring tasteless food, quite the opposite, in fact. You can order delicious vegan options such as couscous with garam masala and pea sauce, spicy (or very spicy) chili, and cappuccino flora. And while the main menu is full of delicious food, the highlight might be on the dessert menu, the two me li magnum, dark chocolate, and mango curry heart.

Flora also serves a vegan buffet to reduce wastage and allows you to sample a greater variety of food. The buffet is pay-by-weight so you can actually enjoy both buffet and a la carte menu. People with major food sensitivities will be happy to know a great restaurant like Flora exists.

The family-run vegetarian restaurant is set in a 16th-century home located in the countryside, 3.7mi from the center of Verona. The hidden gem has a fixed daily menu consisting of a starter, main course, and dessert.

Our recommendation:

The restaurant uses a combination of traditional Veronese and more modern creative recipes, taking full advantage of the seasonally produced produce. You will pay a little more than other vegetarian restaurants in Verona, but the romantic setting, excellent service and amazing meal will make it worth it. The restaurant is not that big and tends to be very busy, so you will need to make reservations at least two months in advance.

What's it like:

Not fully classified as a restaurant, this little vegetarian cafe is a perfect spot to enjoy a light breakfast or lunch before or after you visit the Duomo of Verona. This is one of those places where as soon as you walk in, you feel good as you are greeted by the super friendly owners, Roberta and Besa. The little restaurant has limited seating inside, but when the weather is nice, there is an outside area where you can admire the Duomo across the street.

Zushi

What's it like:

One of the best vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Verona, especially if you love sushi. The menu at Zushi does have meat items on it, but the majority are vegetarian dishes. There is a separate menu available for vegan options. The owner Marianna and her friendly and helpful staff are very attentive and always willing to make the dining experience the best it can be.

Our recommendation:

You may not think a fast-food place can put out really great food, but at Zazie, they do just that. Their dishes have an explosion of flavor and creativity that has made the chain very successful.

Our recommendation:

When you are hungry and in a hurry, you can pick up a gluten-free lunch set with cereal, hummus, and baked veggies. And you won't feel guilty snacking on their vegan cupcakes, carrot cake, or cookies, all of which are very tasty. Need something to wash it all down? Try a Kombucha or chocolate smoothie, or get adventurous and order a sweet pink coffee.

Location:

Via Gaetano Trezza, 1A Verona Italy

Flower Burger

What's it like:

This is a cool vegan fast-food restaurant that puts the fun in a bun. The vegetarian burger chain makes its bun the star of the show, coming in blue, purple, pink, green, and yellow colors. But they are not just about flashy colors, the burgers also taste amazing. The Smurfs burger with its blue bun, mushroom base patty, and fresh vegetable toppings will change even the most skeptical carnivore.

Our recommendation:

Follow up the burger with a vegan tiramisu, chocolate lava cake, or the Crunchy Raspby with pistachio and cashews. The restaurant has a wonderful family atmosphere and the prices are reasonable. If you need a burger fix, the Flower Burger vegan restaurant will definitely hit the spot.

What's it like:

The friendly staff of the restaurant are very knowledgeable and always willing to assist with the menu. The daily menu is designed to provide a healthy balance of proteins, vegetables, and carbohydrates.

Our recommendation:

The restaurant does a weekly live aperitif, where customers get to sample locally sourced products and drink wine. And just to add to the fun, on certain nights there is live entertainment.
